Pot Butter
Pot butter will be the basis for most of your recipes as it is one of the easiest ways of handling the pot.
We are going to make about one lb. of pot butter, so we'll start with about 5 sticks of butter and we'll use an Oz. of shake.
I'm using 5 sticks since I expect to lose some in the weed when we strain it out.
Most recipes I've read call for stems, but I'm using shake instead since a buddy gave me a bunch of it to play around with.
Remember this: the better ingredients you start out with, the better the end result will be.

Melt the butter in a decent sized pan.
I'm using a cast iron Dutch Oven since you need to cook it for a while.
One recipe even suggested cooking it for hours over low heat to get all the THC out of it.

Next take two cups of water...
... and add it to your pot butter.
Boil this mixture for a few minutes.
I did mine about 10 - 15 minutes.
It gets more of the THC out of the pot and the water helps get the butter out of the weed.

Strain your butter/water mix out of the pot. and squeeze it out.
Rinse with another cup of really hot water and squeeze it out again to get all the butter you can out of the weed.
Put it into the fridge to cool off and harden the butter. It will separate and solidify on top of the water.
When it is hard, remove from the pan and clean the back side of it.
It will have some loose pot on it and some softer material that I scrape off and use in something else instead of saving with my butter.
It has pot in it and is too good to throw out but will not harden like the butter.
Then cut the butter slab into 4 pieces of approximately one stick each.
Now package it up and refrigerate it, or even freeze it for future use.
I froze two sticks worth and put two in the fridge for more immediate use.
